Free Chapter Year End Function 2014
Our FCCT has once again ended a great year with a memorable Christmas sleepover in the beautiful mountain resort, Piekenierskloof, situated just before Citrusdal, 170 kms from Cape Town.
Wishing all our members & their families a peaceful, happy & safe festive season.
May the New Year only bring good things for us all.
From the ‘Golden Pen’ of Alan Joffe
We would like to say a big thank you to Marianna Kriel for organising a superb end of year function.
Due to Lisa and my work commitments we were unable to join the chapter ride in the morning so we decided to go by car, this was a big mistake as Mike made us suffer when the fines were announced !!
On our arrival we were greeted by friendly staff and 39 degree heat, now the car was a good idea!
Our room was spacious and the views amazing. After freshening up and putting on our bling we all met in the bar (where else).
We were then ushered into the dining room and treated to a delicious wine and chocolate pairing by a very knowledgable local wine expert.
After quaffing our wine and choccies, we proceeded to the function room where we were greeted by a beautifully decorated hall and tables.
The evening commenced with a delicious bowl of soup and some complimentary wines.
We listened to the speeches from Bruce and Mike where there were various awards handed to members and numerous fines!
After the soup we were served a delicious buffet with roast meats, chicken pie and more!
This was followed by various desserts which included one of the best Crème brulee’s I have tasted.
As I listened to Bruce and Mike I realised how much this Chapter has achieved this year, with the numerous charities that we have supported and the various rides and events we have attended. This is due to the commitment of our committee and members who make it possible.
From myself and Lisa a big Thank You to the committee for a great year end function.
We look forward to seeing you all in the new year.
Happy holidays.

Another year has come and gone – amazing how quick time can fly.
Saturday morning, 6th Dec 2014, 25 bikes gathered at Swartland Engen, to start another unforgettable event in the short, but active history of FCCT.
The ride started out in perfect weather with strong sidewinds the closer we got to Piketberg. About 15km from Piketberg, the pack was stopped – something had happened! Our 2 newly-weds had a problem. The heat was on – they burnt some rubber and lost a tyre. To their rescue came HD Tygervalley, recovering the bike and replacing the rear tyre. Fortunately, Will managed to be in time for the function.
The pleasure to organize the function was superseded by the appreciation of our members – this made it all worthwhile.
I would also like to express my gratitude towards Piekenierskloof and their personnel for the professional manner in which they made this event a great success.
Sunday morning, after breakfast, all lined up to proceed back home. Good camaraderie was in turn shown by FCCT towards HD Tygervalley by us attempting roadside assistance when Shaun’s vehicle broke down. Although a repair could not be effected, he was escorted by Ammi and Bruce to Malmesbury from where alternative arrangements were made.
All in all this was another great event – the bar is set…
